NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia is continuing to operate cargo-only flights to China in order to bring medical aid and supplies to Serbia to fight the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. Since the declaration of a state of emergency in the country just over a month ago, the airline has operated 21 flights to China with its Airbus A330-200 and A320 aircraft. The A330 has been running nonstop services to a number of Chinese cities over the past month including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen, while the A320 has been operating to these cities with a refuelling stop in either Novosibirsk or Nur-Sultan. Apart from supplies such as face masks, gloves, respirators and protective equipment, the airline has also transported a makeshift Covid testing laboratory. More cargo-only flights to China are expected this week.
Serbia has been very fortunate to have received so much help from China during these testing times. Thank you China! And thank goodness we have our own planes to ferry all of this.
ReplyDeleteCheck the radar every night. The entire continent is receiving cargo flights. There are even flights from Argentina to China via Auckland or direct flights from Madrid to Manila and cargo flights from Luxembourg to Taiwan, etc, etc, etc.
DeleteYes but Serbia has been receiving at least two cargo flights per day which is a lot for the country this size!

DeleteWithout China there would be no need for these flights are there would be no goods to be transported.

DeleteThe EU funds other flights through other companies. It has been 15 times so far. Thanks to the EU for that, we needed them. Fliing Air Serbia is paid by the Government of Serbia.

ReplyDeleteI know they don't usually allow this, except for regional international flights (such as HKG, Japan, Korea), but flying to Hongqiao (SHA) instead of Shanghai Pudong (PVG) could be a huge deal for transfer pax to Europe.
DeleteSeeing photos of JU and FlyBosnia and W6 becoming cargo airlines, it seems that we will not be seeing passengers taking aeroplanes anytime soon. 2020 is basically a lost year for commercial aviation.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the numbers are for the other flight to BEG. Some HUGE Antonov/Illyshin planes flew over Belgrade a number of times over the past 6 weeks.
