Air Serbia will introduce a regular one weekly charter service between Belgrade and Dubai starting next Friday October 1, with subsequent flights running each Saturday. The flights will operate once per week, each Saturday, departing at 01.00 local time, with exception to the first service which departs on Friday at 23.00. As previously reported, the flights are being organised as a result of increased demand for the upcoming Expo 2020, being held in Dubai from October 1 until March 31 of next year. According to the Serbian Minister for Trade and Tourism, Tatjana Matić, flights will be free of charge for those exhibiting at the Serbian pavilion in Dubai. Flydubai, which maintains scheduled services between the two cities, will double its operations on the route to two daily starting October 31. Those purchasing tickets with the airline for flights from October 1 will receive a complimentary day pass for Expo 2020.
I wonder if Wizz Air added a third weekly to AUH because of EXPO
ReplyDeleteI think flights are being increased because they are performing well for them. For example they "temporarily" moved a bunch of routes they started from AUH to DXB but they kept BEG and increased it.

ReplyDeleteToo much effort I guess and too much competition. Air Serbia is now sleeping until next summer when they can schedule 100 flights to Tivat and rent out planes for charters. Scheduled business is left to foreign professionals like Wizz Air and flydubai to the UAE.
DeleteProfessionals let you pay for expensive Discount Club or Privilege Pass membership and then cancel Belgrade routes like Malta and Cyprus, leaving frequent customers who planned on flying those routes screwed. Those customers now have to switch to scheduled Air Serbia services to those destinations. So much about Wizz professionals.
DeleteLooks like the aircraft will sit in DXB for 12 hours before returning to BEG. Perhaps for minimum crew rest rather than keeping them in Dubai for a week. It also means that an aircraft will be gone for 24 hours operating the route.

Once again JU schedules flight for destinations that are already served, FZ has enough capacity for all those passangers! And flying once a week with a a319 it’s just a joke...
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just another way for the Govt to "legitimately" pump more money into the airline. I mean, if those attending expo are getting free flight tkts, then you know who is paying for everything ... this is a govt charter and a way of throwing more money into JU

DeleteWho do you think paid ... (cough cough) over-paid for the Serbia creates tail? And then the Tesla tail? Air Serbia? No. Probably the tourist board, or the Chamber of Commerce, via Serb gov. How much did the gov pay to AS for the POS flights from INI? 5m €! All the airlines do this form of subsidy one way or another, no big deal, just don't deny it.

I hope that Air Serbia expands throughout the Balkans, Caucasus, North Africa, and Euro-Med, where I think they have a lot of potential.

DeleteOnly those falsely accusing Air Serbia end up losing. They can always be identified by repeatedly misspelling word losing as loosing. Some could not stand always losing arguments against Air Serbia so they ended up creating their own fantasyland aviation sites.
