Emirates, the world's largest long haul airline, is on a hiring spree for more cabin crew as it looks to expand its workforce and step up operations in response to a rebound in air travel demand. The Dubai-based airline is hoping to recruit 6.000 new cabin crew members by March of next year. The carrier will host open days in Podgorica, Budva, Sarajevo, Mostar, Belgrade, Zagreb, Split, Ljubljana and Skopje. It marks the first recruitment events Emirates has held in the former Yugoslavia since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Per the job description, those interested in the full-time, entry level positions have to be at least 160 centimetres tall and must be able to reach 212cm while standing on tiptoes to enable them to access emergency equipment on all aircraft types. As Emirates cabin crew, new candidates will be based in Dubai and will need to meet the UAE's employment visa requirements. Those looking to apply need be high school graduates. Candidates also need to be fluent in written and spoken English and those who are multilingual will rank highly in the application process. Applications for the recruitment events can be found here.
Once cabin crew are hired, they will undergo eight weeks of training at the Emirates Aviation College. There is also a dedicated induction team that takes care of the recruits when they arrive and settle into Dubai, introduces them to the city and guides them on the culture and traditions of the region. Working for an airline also has its perks and successful recruits will benefit from free shared accommodation in Dubai, free transport to and from work, as well as concessional travel benefits for themselves, family and friends. All new cabin crew will be required to operate on flights travelling to all corners of the world. They will be trained and rostered on the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft that Emirates currently operates.

DeleteIs it just me or does this feel like JU is letting the likes of EK, EY, QR even W6 steal cabin crew prospects by being inactive and not holding similar recruitment days across the country and the region?
ReplyDeleteIt's just you. People that are willing to move to the UAE and people that want to work from their home country are entirely different pools of candidates.
DeleteI agree with 14:16. Seems like potential candidates are being poached right in front of JU’s nose. Candidates JU would need, were it to proceed with its expansion.
DeleteAt JU you still need connection to get hired and people are tired of that and ready to move elsewhere....until there would be no locals and JU start employing mid-eastern and far-eastern and who know who else but of course with corruption involved as they do not know different...sad
DeleteThey wouldn't open another round unless they really needed new people. Knowledge of English is required which explains your frustrations.
DeleteMany crew from JU would like to get the job at EK, while the opposite has never been seen so far. Hope it clarify, as heard once in Serbia nobody is willing to change from horse to donkey.

ReplyDeleteNo, thank you. At the first sign of pandemic they let go thousands of cabin crew with no protection or any compensation whatsoever. I would never recommend anyone to ever work for any of the big 3 airlines from the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteActually I worked 5 years for this company, and they let me go as well, but with savings to live for 10 years. 🙂 I don't know what you can do after working for JU for 5 years.

DeleteI applied for a cabin crew position about 15 days ago, does anyone know how far in advance do they inform you whether or not you are invited?
ReplyDeleteYou don't need an invite. It's an open day, not based on invitation. You just apply online so that have you in their records. Show up to the event on time and good luck :)
