NEWS FLASH

The Sarajevo-based FlyBosnia has had its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) suspended by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate for Civil Aviation. The airline has been without an aircraft for years and last operated flights in 2020. According to the Directorate, the AOC was suspended this June. As a result, cargo operator Icar Air is the only carrier in the country left with a valid AOC. FlyBosnia was set up by Saudi Arabia's Al Shiddi Group, which was founded in 1975 with interests in various fields, including construction, real estate, agriculture and tourism. The Saudi conglomerate has been operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2006. At one point, FlyBosnia boasted two Airbus A319 aircraft in its fleet.

This airline and the idea behind it remains a mystery to me. Who was willing to burn millions in a pointless investment?

icar air can try to get a bigger plane like Saab 340 or Atr42/72. It's sad that this is the only airline in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Based on "what" they had AOC.
Every airline must have an aircraft before they get an AOC .LOL . This can only be seen in BIH!

They had two aircraft. I guess it took the authorities a while to revoke the AOC once the aircraft were gone. I am sure there were behind the scenes negotiations and promises that they would get aircraft again but obviously that didn't work out and it was too blatant regardless of the money involved.

Expected this is a balkan joke.
What happened to Wizz Air Bosnia?
Or this is only company for crew?

Wizz Air Bosnia is just a registered business entity (for paying wages and concluding crew contracts), they don't have an AOC.

Can someone tell me what happened to this airline in a nutshell?

      The pandemic ruined them.
In 2020 they leased an A320 from Get Jet Lithuania, as they could not operate their own aircraft due to covid.
In 2021 they continued to lose, there were still travel restrictions. They performed several charters to Egypt with A321 from Hi Fly.
This year they wanted to restap but failed.
It doesn't have enough funds and maybe it will go bankrupt.

They also had many obligations to SJJ and the lysigodatels. The pilots lost their jobs.
