NEWS FLASH
The Canadian Transportation Agency has issued Air Serbia a permit to begin codeshare flights to the country, upon its request. Although the Agency has not said which airline the Serbian carrier plans to enter into a codeshare agreement with, Air Serbia has previously noted it would place its designator and flight numbers onto Turkish Airlines’ services from Istanbul to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal subject to regulatory approval. Now that it has secured these rights, Air Serbia will be able to sell tickets to Canada via Istanbul. Air Serbia has made no secret that it is considering launching its own flights between Belgrade and Toronto. Last month, its CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “When it comes to North America, after JFK and Chicago, the logical choices are either Toronto or Miami. We are looking into that, but it will only come after China”.
About bloody time. Now I am can use my aeroplan upgrades to get a nice quality cabin to Canada.
ReplyDeleteJU was already on Aeroplan program to purchase tickets. In the past ACA and JU were selling tickets via interline, apparently that stopped few months ago

Bravo Air Serbia!
ReplyDeleteWhen AirSerbia plans to establish non-stop flight from Belgrade to Toronto?
ReplyDeleteDay after tomorrow at 12:34.
DeleteThe 30th of February.
DeleteMy bet is on the next two months. If there will be Air Serbia flight to Toronto in 2024, it will be announced in the next 60 days.
DeleteIf there will be flights to Toronto in summer 2024 ot will be announced in autumn 2023.
DeleteMost likely earlier. Air Serbia announced Chicago on July 14, 2022:

Nice! One more step before Air Serbia Toronto launch. Codeshare means other five days a week JU can send Toronto-bound passengers via IST. It can help with future JU BEG-YYZ direct flight disruptions etc.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly
DeleteWow. Didn't expect it to be done so quickly.
ReplyDeleteGood that they're making positive approach and growing the business.
Next step gotta be direct flight to Toronto !!
DeleteAs if the Jokić-Murray relations were mapped onto the interstate relations between Serbia and Canada
DeleteAir Transat used to do direct to Zagreb in the summer a few years ago. It was great for us in Canada
ReplyDeleteThey still do
DeleteDid they start again? I know since Covid they stopped but I haven't checked in the last couple of months.
DeleteThey restored it last year. Flying this summer too
DeleteIs there a TK codeshare on JU flights from KVO?
ReplyDeleteHow TK will be survive from this ? Right now Toronto flights are fully booked and can’t even seen on Aeroplan for reward flights. TK needs a second flight for Toronto as well.
