Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled 717.381 passengers in May, representing an increase of 10.6% on last year. It marks its busiest May to date and the first time it has welcomed over 700.000 travellers through its doors during the month. The number of commercial aircraft movements grew 4.5%. Over the January - May period, a total of 2.942.282 customers passed through the airport, up 15.8% on the same period in 2023, representing 400.989 additional travellers.

ReplyDeleteThis is a truly exceptional result given the cuts made by JU and W6. Hopefully both airlines will start adding instead of removing flights. Others are certainly profiting from this, last night Austrian Airlines, once again, sent its A321 to BEG.
ReplyDeleteWith JU and W6 being packed people will have to fly with other carriers. Just today we bought three tickets for BCN, all with Lufthansa and Swiss (for September). I really hope Air Serbia adds several A320s for next summer!

If we include BEG, INI and KVO numbers, then Air Serbia's marketshare at BEG was 51.7%. In reality it was slightly lower than that, maybe around 49% to 50%.
Unfortunately JU is still cutting some routes under the radar. It seems that FRA, CDG, MAD, BER are having cuts. What on Earth are they doing right now. Although I see SVO increased to 21x weekly.
DeleteAre you sure these are new cuts? I haven't heard anything regarding cuts in recent times. I know they cut like a month or two ago but haven't noticed any since then. I know JU has a serious shortage of pilots but then again who doesn't. Even KLM CEO in a recent interview complained how they are struggling with it.
DeleteI guess this will remain a serious problem for many carriers until new pilots are trained or until aviation starts cooling down.
I just randomly checked FR 24 and it seems that CDG is down to 13x weekly, MAD to 3x weekly, BER to 6x weekly etc. Not sure if this is temporary or not...

DeleteI don't know if you have been following the news over the last 2 years, but they are struggling with their number of flight deck crews. (mind you everyone is) You probably think, how come? they hired few classes of new pilots, but that's just to cover the hole they had in the past. Few guys retire and quit and you're back to square one. Now, on top of all of this, they brought on additional dry lease aircraft and that just makes the job even more difficult. So the only short term solution is to cut where you can to keep the summer schedule somewhat normal.

DeleteThere were 4 Ejets in the operations by Marathon and 5th arrived just before incident. Alsp 6th was also planned before summer. So 6 were planned, but there will be 4 in few weeks, which will improve situation enough

SOF have lots of military charters with wide body planes of Omni, Atlas...... They are not in schedule, but are in the statistics.
DeleteTruth be told, Air Montenegro really messed up. There was high demand for TIV in late May and they could have easily capitalized on it. Most JU flights are sold out to TGD/TIV - but there are still a few business class and expensive seats available.

You did not read the article, this is all of BEG not just JU.
DeleteFor comparison, Zagreb added 218.293 passengers for the first five months YoY. Belgrade added 403.641 for the same period.
