Air Serbia schedules new routes, prepares to take fourth wide-body

Air Serbia has scheduled the first set of its new routes for the 2025 summer season and is due to take delivery of its fourth Airbus A330-200 aircraft shortly. The airline has put on sale flights from Belgrade to Florence, Mykonos and Alghero in Sardinia. Services  to Florence will commence in April, while the latter two will be inaugurated  early June. All will run twice per week. Mykonos will be maintained with the Embraer E195 aircraft, Florence with the ATR72-600, while the Airbus A319 will be deployed to Alghero. These additions will result in the airline operating ten destinations to Italy and seven in Greece. The airline initially considered operations to Olbia on Sardinia but opted for Alghero on the island instead. Both Mykonos and Alghero will be served by Air Serbia on a scheduled basis for the first time, while Florence was previously operated in 2023. The carrier is expected to schedule additional new routes, including Ibiza, in the coming period, when it obtains its desired slots.

Commenting on the new route launches, the carrier's General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Boško Rupić, said, "Air Serbia previously operated flights to Sardinia and Mykonos in cooperation with partner tour operators. These were charter flights, and now conditions have been created for us to implement scheduled flights to these two popular destinations during the summer season. This way, passengers will have the opportunity to independently plan their stay on two of the most popular islands in Italy and Greece and to reach them more easily and quickly. Additionally, we are reintroducing nonstop flights to Florence, which will become our tenth destination in Italy. We are confident that all three destinations will attract the attention of passengers and that we will have a high cabin load factor on these flights during the summer season".

As EX-YU Aviation News learns, Air Serbia’s fourth wide-body aircraft, to be registered YU-ARE, is to be delivered just before the New Year. The jet, which is being dry-leased, features a special livery promoting the upcoming Expo 2027 in Belgrade. It is the same as the one recently applied to its third A330-200. The aircraft was delivered new to Etihad Airways in 2014 but was stored in late 2019 until it was taken up by Air Belgium three years later. The 262-seat jet features the Etihad cabins, including 22 business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, and the remaining 240 in economy in a 2-4-2 configuration.


Business class seats, all of which have direct-aisle access, offer a privacy shell, a six feet one inch full flat bed, a 15-inch LCD screen, in-seat power ports and an in-built massage function. Economy class offers a 31.5 to 33-inch seat pitch depending on where one sits. The cabin is fitted with cradle-style seats that slide forward and recline, 10.4-inch personal LCD screens, USB ports and power ports. The aircraft boasts mood lighting that is adjusted to suit the time of day. The cabins are the same as the ones featured on its third A330, registered YU-ARD. The aircraft has been undergoing maintenance in Dusseldorf for some time. Meanwhile, another of the carrier’s A330-200s, registered YU-ARB (Nikola Tesla), which has been undergoing regular scheduled maintenance in France since late October, is also expected to return to Belgrade soon, and recently received a touch up of its livery through surface treatment sanding.

      @anon 09:12 - the retrofit was published in September. There is forward thinking but it doesn’t happen overnight, as you seem to expect. This isn’t QR and JU doesn’t have deep oil based pockets either. A dose of reality could be warranted.

      Well, according to the article, AS will have 4 A330 by the end of this month..Where will they fly- well, according to some very "competent" comentators here, they will fly to Rome, Zurich and sometimes to Moskow..And 1 will be waiting on the ground all the time, to jump in , in case of emergency..

      Cabin is more modern
      This is why I say that AirSerbia will not do grate on China’s market. If you are flying from China to Belgrade what will you choose 787 or old A330 with not that grate cabin.

      When I am buying a ticket I check the price and timing and find the best buy for me in that moment. I've never heard anyone checking the seats and how old the cabin is when deciding, but I trust some people here does, so their comments are worth of attention. I'm sarcastic, of course!

      Yes you can. Influencers fly all over the world and all they do is COMPARE different interiors and service. Economy class is not much different on Hainan A330 and Air Serbia A330. Oh you flew in business? Well, well, good to know. Hainan has too much red for my taste anyway.

      You never know what to trust on the internet. Some say YU-ATA was used by grandma once a month to the farmer's market and back, but the paperwork didn't match. Other say chemtrails switch didn't work. I am inclined to beleive the latter but who knows?

      I'm now waiting for Air Serbia to promptly react and open new long haul route..This winter- 1 ORD, 2 JFK, 2-CAN, 2- PVG...Densifying Chinese routes won't be possible during next year, so not much options are left..Planes are not rented to be sitting..New route is needed, at least one, asap
