Low cost carrier easyJet has scheduled its return to the Macedonian market with a new service to Skopje, while it will also inaugurate flights on a new route to Split this coming summer. The airline will introduce operations between Paris Orly and the Macedonian capital on April 2. As previously reported by EX-YU Aviation News back on December 3, 2024 when the carrier applied for slots for the route, flights will be maintained twice per week. The new service will see the budget airline return to Skopje after discontinuing operations from Geneva in November of last year. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website, with further details available here.

easyJet will face indirect competition on the route. Wizz Air maintains services between Skopje and Beauvais, advertised as Paris, however, the airport is almost ninety kilometres from the city centre. On the other hand, Orly is located some twenty kilometres from downtown Paris. The new route will expand connectivity between Macedonia and France, growing alongside Wizz Air’s new flights to Lyon, launching on May 1. easyJet entered the Macedonian market in November 2021 buoyed by the quick recovery of the Visiting Friends and Relatives sector during the coronavirus pandemic. The carrier’s new service becomes the sixth new route scheduled to launch from Skopje this year.

easyJet will also further expand its presence in Split where it was the largest airline by available seat capacity last year, despite serving the city only on a seasonal summer basis. The carrier will inaugurate flights between Porto and Croatia’s second largest city on June 23, with services to be maintained twice per week until August 30. It will become the sixteenth destination to be served out of Split by easyJet. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website with additional flight details available here. easyJet had previously also scheduled new routes from Liverpool and Milan Linate to Split, commencing June 9 and June 23 respectively, as well as new services from Bordeaux to Dubrovnik and Lyon to Zadar starting this June.

If something its not scheduled yet doesnt mean that its not going to happen. They reopened their Chisinau base after three years, they are going to return the second jet in Sibiu after one year, second jet in Venice after one year, grow LTN base from 11 to 14 jets, OTP from 17 to 19, TIA, FCO and WAW from 11 to 13, LCA and KUT from three to four. Just previously they also announced three new routes from OTP. So dont worry, they will resume something from ex-yu as well.

Orly is closer to Paris , plus they offer alot of inside destinations in France and also international , so it is definitly a great addition for Macedonia. Knowing how big and crowdy is CDG this option is way better. Plus we have Lyon too which is 4th largest airport in France and also good alternative for connections inside the country.
