NEWS FLASH
Transavia France will enter the Bosnia and Herzegovina market next summer by introducing flights between Paris Orly and Sarajevo. The Air France-KLM low cost subsidiary will commence operations between the two capitals on April 17 and run two weekly flights, on Mondays and Fridays, with the Airbus A320neo aircraft. Further details can be found here. The airline faces no direct competition, with Ryanair maintaining services between Beauvais and Sarajevo. Ryanair’s route will be suspended this coming winter season and, at this point, is unlikely to resume next year.
Commenting on the new service, Sarajevo Airport said it is the result of “years of negotiations”. It added, “This new route represents a significant step forward in connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina with one of the most important European and global centres, the French capital. The route is part of Transavia's strategic expansion toward authentic and attractive European destinations. The introduction of nonstop flights from Paris opens up new opportunities for tourism, business cooperation and cultural exchange between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
Good addition! Finally
ReplyDeleteGood addition but losing Beauvais is not that good either
DeleteFantastic addition for Sarajevo, well done!
ReplyDeleteBig news! Sarajevo will finally have a real Paris airport. It’s also the first airline from the AFKLM group. We can always hope they might expand on other destinations or maybe start offering tickets via KLM to AMS etc. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteKLM and Transavia tickets are not offering connections between them
DeleteOf course they are. You can easily buy a ticket where one leg is operated by KLM and another by Transavia. Not through ORY, however.
DeleteThats what I wanted to say.
DeleteHope they will not shut down the Paris Beauvais line, because Transavia is too expensive
ReplyDeleteAt this point we don't know. Them opening a base in Sarajevo is very real if the state agrees to suspend the tax, meetings were arranged again with a clear case study of potential benefits if 2-3 planes are based in SJJ.
DeleteIts clearly written that this winter season they will cut the Beauvais route and will not resume again
DeleteWhere is it written that it will not resume again?
DeleteThank you for your first reply, I don’t understand why they will not keep Ryanair because there is more potential than Transavia

17:37 read the article text carefully not just writing comments without sense!! Its very nice and clearly written it would stop this winter and its unlikely to resume.
DeleteBravo SJJ. Off topic: Transavia must be the company will most boring brand name, yet great branding and awareness.

DeleteI always thought as a name it sounded rather functionally Balkan!
DeleteLaunch and cancel soon, transavia mode...
ReplyDeleteUntil there is subsidies they will stay :))
DeleteTransavia France is adding a lot of new routes from France since Ryanair is leaving the country because of taxes (that's why Ryanair will stop its Beauvais-Sarajevo route)
ReplyDeleteIts bad that SJJ is losing Brauvais which is lot cheaper option in this case for Paris airports
DeleteLaunching one route cancelling another , Beauvais is lot cheaper with Ryanair then Transavia
ReplyDeleteIt would be really nice that they launch NIS service from orly or amsterdam
DeleteI am not that sure Nis could handle hubs such as Orly or Amsterdam , I think there would be not enough demand.
DeleteMore bigger airports in Ex-yu doesnt have orly or amsterdam as well...
DeleteEasyjet today removes Berlin-Dubrovnik , Berlin-Zadar , Lyon-Zadar and Milan malpensa Zadar. As I said smaller cities here In ex-yu cannot sustain big hubs , only if there is subsidies scheme. Btw today also Easyjet removes total 17 routes from Germany,Spain,ItalyFrance and Holland
DeleteOn the other hand, INI has ZRH, IST, MLA, so I don't think it can't handle ORY or AMS. Especially ORY as Paris aerea has huuuge southern Serbian diaspora
DeleteINI already serves good portion of airports , but the think is does all that serbian diaspora who lives in paris area coming from Nis... so you cannot be sure
DeleteU2 removed these routes last week, keep up dear.

DeleteCan someone more knowledgable than me in this area explain why "Sarajevo Airport said it is the result of “years of negotiations”". I guess I don't get how negotiating a twice weekly route, which while nice is not much, would take multiple years.
ReplyDeleteWell SJJ has probably for years been trying to persuade them to start flights and Transavia wasn't budging until now.
