NEWS FLASH
airBaltic will introduce a new seasonal winter service between Ljubljana and Tenerife, complementing existing winter flights to Gran Canaria and its year-round Riga operations. Flights will commence on October 30 with a scheduled weekly service, on Fridays, until March 19. The carrier has indicated frequencies will be maintained twice per week, although tickets for the second rotation are yet to go on sale. Further details can be found here. The carrier faces no competition on the route. airBaltic is one of four applicants for Slovenian state subsidies aimed at launching new routes.

So the Gran Canaria route was really succesfull. Will they also increase frequencies on LPA?

ReplyDeleteTenerife and Gran Canaria can't really be done for a weekend getaways. These are quite far and have lots to offer. It's a crime to go only for couple of days!
DeleteMany go just for few days especially regular visitors. To be honest with summer traffic jams it doesnt take much longer than going to Umag or Poreč for a weekend in summer 🙂

ReplyDeleteYes the airport is referred to as just Tenerife. Tenerife North is referred to Gran Canaria.
DeleteWrong 10.17. Gran Canaria is the other island, their airport is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and it was the first Air Baltic service to LJU. Island of Tenerife had 2 airports, north and south. South is the bigger one and mostly used for international flights and tourists. North is smaller, and used mostly for regional and island to island flights and locals. Tenerife north has absolutely nothing to do with Gran Canaria

ReplyDeleteSo AirBaltic to Tenerife and ITA to Rome (probably). Hopefully at least one LCC applied like Easyjet to Berlin or Wizz to Tirana/Sarajevo/Prague or Bucharest. Would be also nice to see SAS ro Stockholm

ReplyDeleteairBaltic is actually starting to become a serious player in Ljubljana. If we assume TFS is gonna be 2 per week, this means the airline will have 5 weekly flights to LJU in winter. This amounts to around 21 flights per month, which means a capacity of approx. 6.100 seats. This would mean they would be the 7th airline with the most capacity last November:
