NEWS FLASH
Lufthansa is testing a reduced cabin cleaning concept on around twenty short-haul European routes. Under the trial, the changes apply only to economy class, while business class continues to receive the usual cleaning between flights. As part of the test, the airline is limiting the amount of cleaning carried out during aircraft turnarounds at outstations. This includes a more selective approach to removing rubbish from seat pockets and reducing general cabin tidying between sectors. Lavatories are also affected, with toilets no longer cleaned as a matter of routine after every flight during the trial, but instead only when needed. Lufthansa has already adjusted some elements of the trial following feedback, including reversing an initial plan not to cross seat belts between flights. The test is being conducted on a limited basis and is intended to assess whether the airline can reduce cleaning work during the day without broader operational issues.

How the mighty have fallen...

Delete“with toilets no longer cleaned as a matter of routine after every flight during the trial” Absolutely disgusting. Dis-gus-ting!
DeleteWho do they think they are? Ryanair?? Even on Pegasus airlines you get the seatbelts crossed and clean lavatories - and the ticket is around three times cheaper.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, LH passengers are more prestigious.
ReplyDeleteJust when you think Lufthansa can't get any lower, they find new ways to dissapoint passengers.

DeleteSo flying business class now comes with the perk of being clean on Lufthansa?
ReplyDeleteHow does it compare to other airlines, and low coasters in particular? Also, didn’t know about cross belt thing, now I will try to leave it that way. Apparently this is so passenger can easily find the ends of his belt.
ReplyDeleteSimpleFlying says they used to clean plane with 4 people in 5 minutes, and now it will be 10 minutes with 2 people. I read it as the change is only on paper, how much can you clean in 5 minutes anyway?
DeleteGood point. Planes are filthy dirty as it is.
DeleteIn reality on many airlines, very often there is trash in the seat pockets, the toilets seem like not being cleaned too, so it seems the staff skips some of it themselves, without the management decision.
ReplyDeleteAnd they will force us to sign a waiver for any contagious diseases "earned" while we had the "pleasure" of flying with them
ReplyDeleteFrom Covid hysteria now to this.
DeleteI do not agree to most comments here: maybe this will teach passengers not to leave a plan like a pig stall anymore? Can't we expect every passenger to leave their seat as they want to find it on short haul flight? This also applies for the lavatories, sorry!
ReplyDeleteAnd if I do their cleaning work for them, do they lower the ticket price?
DeleteIt's not cleaning work. It's called common decency and elementarna kultura, which many didn't master it seems, as quite often people indeed behave as pigs. I regularly fly in first row on JU ATR flights (couple of times a month) and I am always amazed, as leave the plane last, how can people leave such a mess on 1hr flight after being served only a small bag of plazma and bottle of water. I never left a single piece of rubbish on the plane on hundreds of flights in my life.
DeleteYes, not leaving rubbish I agree, but not wiping the seats, the toilets and the common areas, that is not ok. We pay to fly with them, and they are not cheap by any means, and it is expected to be seated and flown in a clean environment. Cost cutting on passengers backs is not ok either.
DeleteThis is not a big deal for short haul. If it saves everyone money why not. Ryanair is the biggest airline in Europe for a reason; they cut unnecessary cost
ReplyDeleteThere is a big deal : it does not save everyone's money. Economy passengers on LH are ripped off with ridiculously high prices to get LCC service with hand luggage tariff only included in price, with almost no in
DeleteContinuation : almost no inflight service, and now this. It's disgusting and I will continue avoiding them whenever possible. And it used to be very good airline in the past
DeleteLufthansa stinks, literally haha
