The General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, "The Austrian Airlines service between Ohrid and Vienna will bring numerous benefits, first and foremost for our airport, but also for tourism development in the region and the country's overall economic connectivity. Through this direct air link, Ohrid gains access to one of Europe's most important aviation hubs, enabling passengers to benefit from fast and efficient connections to destinations across Europe and around the world. It is particularly significant that the route will cater to a wide range of travellers, including tourists, business passengers, transit travellers and members of the diaspora. We expect the service to generate around 5.000 inbound passengers.
Stefan Linhart, Senior Director of Sales for Central and Eastern Europe, Israel and Turkey at the Lufthansa Group, noted, "Having recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of Austrian Airlines' flights to Skopje, we are proud to further expand our presence by launching a second destination in North Macedonia. Ohrid and its surrounding region are becoming increasingly attractive to travellers from around the world, and we look forward to bringing more visitors to this beautiful destination while also providing people in North Macedonia with another gateway to the world through Vienna".

great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThe pastry the airport paid for is the most food OS Y pax have received in years 😂.
DeleteI wish OHD had better quality hotels to attract more tourists
ReplyDeleteYes. It really could use some proper development. My Welsh friend and I weren’t too excited about it.
DeleteThere is one 5* being build in this moment , and I believe from next year it will be open...
DeleteIts ok for a day or two. But they've damaged the old town alot with dodgy construction.
DeleteOhrid had alot to be seen not in the city center but surroundings area. Thete is plenty of place that are around the city , you can stay easily between 2 and 3 days
DeleteOhrid is a 2 day minimum... 1 old town day, 1 Saint Naum, cruise and southern beaches. Then if you have more days, hiking Galicica, day trip to Struga and Radozhda or to Vevchani... You can easily fill 5 days. Ohrid has lots to do when you consider less than 50k people live there.
DeleteYes sure, the OHD tourists are of Mykonos, Costa Smeralda and Nassau sort, so many 5+ stars hotels are needed......irony off.
DeleteYay another flight option for us Aussie diaspora considering a large chunk of us are from the pelagonija region ohrid is the closest option to our end destination
ReplyDeleteGreat news!! Very happy to see OHD starts developing and growing as it should be. Good luck and hope to see more airlines and routes in future!!!
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteIs this first time OHD to have 3 flag carriers in the same time??? If yes than this is amazing achievement👏✈️
ReplyDeleteBravo OHD!!!
DeleteHow many pax?
ReplyDeleteIt says in the article.3rd sentence.
DeletePeople dont even read the text and the article , it says 154 pax
DeleteAny development is welcomed to OHD. OS used to fly often to OHD many years ago, when SKP runway was overhauled. And also MAT had scheduled flights between OHD and VIE. As someone who has being raised in the nearby town of Struga, I oppose to the comments that for the area a 1,2 or 4 days should be sufficient. Nonsense ! To explore the area as it should you need min.10 days there.
ReplyDeleteTrue i always spend atleast 7-14 days just in ohrid for relaxing on the beach, events and exploring
