Royal Jordanian Airlines has scheduled and put on sale its revised timetable between Amman and Belgrade, as exclusively reported by EX-YU Aviation News earlier this week. The carrier has brought forward the launch of the route from early March to February 10. As previously reported, flights will operate twice per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, initially with the Airbus A319 aircraft, switching to the Embraer E195-E2 from March. Tickets are now available for purchase from Belgrade to Amman on the airline’s website, with flights from Amman to Belgrade expected to go on sale shortly. The revised timetable can be found here.

They have really put the A319 even though they retired them. I'm wondering are they going to lease from someone or they will bring them back

ReplyDeleteAQJ, LCA, RUH, SHJ, DMM, DOH, AUH, DXB, BOM, BAH, BEY.
These are all with connections from 1 to 4 hours.
BEG departure connects from:
DAM, BGW,DOH, AUH, BSR, BEY, DMM, RUH, BAH, DXB, ALP, ISU, CAI, SHJ, JED...
Overall I think this route should do well.

DeleteYU is IATA airline code for Portuguese charter and ACMI airline EuroAtlantic Airways. I assume you meant JU IATA airline code for Air Serbia.

DeleteThere is no need for a code-share since most of those JU has are extremely overpriced and useless. Even these flights would have awkward and long connections in one of the two directions.
DeleteRJ is launching these flights because they see potential for themselves. No airline flies to BEG because they feed JU's network. Even Tarom didn't see any interest and withdrew.
These flights have very nice timing to connect onto Air Serbia's network.
DeleteNobody launches flights in order to completely feed another airline. Feeding via codeshare is just additional benefit.

DeleteCodeshares or interline would be an added option for RJ pax when booking with them, especially if AMM is the final destination. There is quite a gap in their European ops so having a partner feed into their flights isn't a bad thing, significant or not.
As for TAROM, is it even necessary to comment on them?
Actually if JU alliances department was more competent RO would be increasing BEG not suspending it.
DeleteBy giving them decent fares out of BEG it would be cheaper for them to transfers a lot of passengers onto JU instead of CDG or AMS. Same way OU is serving LH hubs.
Feed via CDG and AMS is primarily long-haul feed. Not the same as with BEG.

I think CDG & AMS get a lot of transfers to the UK, Nordics, Spain and Portugal
DeleteIf RO was more competent it would increase its own frequencies and not decrease them, especially in a market that has had massive growth the past decade. RO's own schedules didn't allow for much connectivity with JU as flights arrived and departed well outside of JU's waves, nor did it allow for any meaningful connectivity into their own "network". You can't throw blame onto JU for RO's incompetency.
DeleteYes one can do that. JU alliances had to go to Bucharest and to present a new plan to RO where they would reschedule their flights to BEG.

DeleteDeparture slots between 13:00-14:00 at BEG are slowly becoming congested. I wonder if RJ had issues requesting these slots.
ReplyDeleteProbably not an issue on Wednesdays and Saturdays when RJ is flying. Would have been an issue if those flights were on Mondays or Fridays.
DeleteEven on peak days, their arrival and departure times are manageable. By 12pm most arrivals have arrived while by 1:30pm most departures have departed. By 12:30pm, Wizz and KLM would have cleared up a couple of gates.

DeleteIt's quite full at that time though but then again they can use a remote stand for RJ if there are no airbridges available. Also Saturday is a pretty busy day for BEG, at least until 13.30. It's the afternoon and evening that are more quiet, same with Sunday morning.

DeleteYou still need a gate for boarding at a remote stand, which BEG has even less of. JU pretty much takes all those gates at that time. Jet bridge positions is almost full but not completely.
A7 bus gates and underutilized, there are enough bus gates overall for current demand.

ReplyDeleteThis equipment is filed by Royal Jordanian in the reservation system. It is also listed as the operating equipment when booking through their website. The airline has over 300 flights scheduled on the A319 next February to various destinations.

ReplyDeleteYes and especially since RJ is such a nice addition to BEG. They are a very nice and elegant airline, they also have one of the nicest uniforms in the MENA region.

I wouldn't say that they are particularly "nice and elegant", they are quite a bit below Gulf carriers in terms of hard product and service. Better than MS for sure, but that's not much of a benchmark.
DeletePlease be mindful of the fact that Jordan isn't one of the oil rich emirates so they can't spend billions on RJ. That is why airlines like Royal Jordanian, MEA or Egyptair are not as fancy as Emirates, Riyadh Air or Qatar.
