NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia is increasing frequencies between Belgrade and Skopje during the upcoming winter season. The carrier last week scheduled fourteen weekly flights between the two capitals from October 25, resulting in a double-daily service. The revised schedule represents an increase from the initially planned eleven weekly rotations, as well as from the ten weekly services operated during the previous winter season. All flights are scheduled to be maintained with the ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft.

My guess is that they are profiting from LH exiting the market
ReplyDeleteOf course now everyone must transfer through ZAG,BEG,VIE ...
DeleteZAG??!? Seriously?
DeleteTo where via ZAG besides MUC & FRA
DeleteDBV, SPU
DeleteLH left so more room for JU and BEG offers a big network. Many people in Macedonia still chose to travel by bus to BEG and catch a flight there especially young people.
ReplyDeleteJU is too expensive for locals, we need Wizz Air for those since they can offer cheap tickets.
DeleteOfc most people travel by Wizz including myself, Last time I traveld JU it was under the Jat branding. Austrian ussually offers slighty better deals and has more frequencies to western european destinations so I use them if I don't fly with Wizz. But JU offers still a great network. I know people in AMS who regurarly use JU and if you go to the US it's a great option.
DeleteUnless you catch and early deal, JU to region is usually around 20.000 RSD which is €180. That is a lot when you compare to the bus which starts at €60. Their main competitor from BEG is Fudex and I think they have 2 daily buses or at least they had in the past.
DeleteThere is still room for growth on BEG-SKP.
Flying from BEG direct can be more expensive than a transfer flight from SKP.
DeleteTransfer flights are always cheaper then direct. I never went to BEG with bus to catch a flight , I always just layover there
Delete* than direct
DeleteJU finally seems to be moving in the direction of standardising frequencies so connections can be offered on a daily basis. Thinking of all the westbound departures from BEG that fly either in the morning or evening wave, which are now connected from SKP every day by one of the two daily flights. That's probably the next step in the network densification they've been announcing to become a more serious network carrier.
ReplyDeleteJU needs a departure to the region in the morning so that they can offer connections from places like JFK which arrives around 05.00.
DeleteThey cant do it all
DeleteSure they can, they already planned some morning departures a few years ago but cancelled them because they lacked planes (OTP, DBV and SJJ from what I remember).
DeleteOnly DBV and OTP. SJJ were midnight departures.
DeleteYou can't have morning flights to everywhere. There is simply not enough aircraft for that. ATR fleet is flying in the mornings to VIE/PRG/SZG/KRK/LJU/ZAG/BUD/BLQ/VCE/FLR/BRI/PUY. There is maybe space to add some morning flights to OTP, but surely not for OTP, SJJ, SKP, TIA, SOF, etc...
DeleteAs more E95s arrive more Atrs can be freed.
Delete@21.54 you do reallize that Tirana and Skopje are nr2 and n3 connecting markets to JUs JFK flight??? so a morning flight would make indeed sense

Finally
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteOU and Wizz won't like it.
DeleteOU won't notice it. Lol
DeleteWizzair even less so
DeleteSo true, W6 is just too strong at this point
DeleteWizz is kind of weak on flights to LHR, FRA, CDG, China, USA, SVO and many other destinations one can reach via BEG
DeleteWizz Air offers LTN, HHN and BVA from SKP.
Delete@16:18 Wizz does not offer those particular airports at all. But then again it can get you to a vast range of airports directly. Both have their role to play in connectivity. Its also a very useful regional link for those who don't want to drive it and have to do business there.
DeleteAnon 17.00, have you ever travelled to BVA? I used to do it as a kid, would never do it again nowdays.
DeleteThats your issue maye, good for u.
DeleteMillions use BVA without a problem
DeleteWould much rather fly direct to BVA then have to connect in BEG just to go to freaking CDG 😑
DeleteFaster to Paris via BVA than via X to CDG
DeleteBVA 6.7M, CDG 72M. People are not dumb, but those who are trying to put W6 above all, are.
Delete35€ one way to BVA is the magic forumla
DeleteBVA with its 6.7 million passengers would be the second largest ex-YU airport, think about that before you belittle it.
Delete@02:56 nobody is trying to 'put anything above anything' what a stupid comment. The two airports compliment each other and offer different things. So calm down.
DeleteAlways lots of laughs reading comments from wizz cheerleaders and professional alike. Please continue to provide free entertainment!
DeleteNow they need double daily in Sarajevo.
ReplyDeleteGreat. Let's go SJJ next
ReplyDeleteNo way. With fog and smog in SJJ in winter most of the Atr flights won't be able to land at night
DeleteWhy not Embraer?
DeleteBecause it is a higher cost aircraft to operate on what is a low yielding route.
DeleteYou do realise that SJJ this summer is mostly on the Ejets?
DeleteSummers and winters are two different things
DeleteYes, you can't ski in summer
Delete^ It shows how little you know about demand shifts from season to season. PS the two slowest months in commercial aviation are both during the winter season.
DeleteAn Embraer 190 with 100 passengers on board fully matches operational costs of an ATR 72-600 with 65 pax, not to mention better comfort and shorter travel time, so it is up to the number of passengers that can be generated, not only on fuel consumption ...
ReplyDeleteOn such a short distance, a jet will save roughly 10 mins in flight time. It's routes such as PRG where the shorter travel time is really noticeable.
Deleteand yet they struggle to deploy the E jet effectively on the PRG route...
DeleteI don't know why but they really struggle to make PRG work.
DeleteThey don't struggle to deploy the Ejets to PRG. They've this summer for the first time scheduled the E190 3 pw to PRG without reducing frequencies. In fact, they have increased capacity on the route this summer.
Delete@17.01 when you make things up, it is difficult to know.
DeleteWhat we really need is every 30min railway connection to the airport. So that we can alleviate the consequences of the taxi mafia and the phantom airport bus.
ReplyDeleteOr run a proper bus and elect politicians who actually deal with shit such as the taxi mafia (a comment to the whole region)
DeleteSkopje by 2030 if everything goes by the plan will be rail connected with the SKP airport from the city center
DeleteThings never go to plan...
DeleteSometimes they go
DeleteNo. They do not when it comes to railways.
DeleteWe will talk for 1 year or max 2 for this. Be patient
DeleteThe list of failed promises with the railways is very very very long, and i mean very long.
DeleteQuite ambitious to have a flight on Sunday just after midnight. It could mean they might boost flights on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteLast winter on Saturday afternoon they only had TGD, CDG & ZRH.
LJU, VIE, CDG, ZRH, TGD, MAD, SVO have evening arrivals, so there are some connections.
DeleteSunday night flight BEG-SKP will surely have modest load since there are not many connections. However, flight SKP-BEG should be better since there are quite a lot of flights on Sunday morning.
DeleteEven Sunday morning isn't that strong, even in summer. However they have to start somewhere. Hopefully they add more flights on Sunday morning.
DeleteThis is great!! Good move by JU!
ReplyDeleteLH and LO left so much room after leaving the market. It is more than obvious that W6 is not an option for a great portion of business travellers.
I know many people who were flying LH and LO and switched to JU now. Most of these are business pax who don’t care much if the ticket is 50 EUR more expensive than W6 but rather seeking smooth connecetions.
For the massive business market...businesspeople use wizzair with regularity and any well run business sends it people on the moat efficient method nowadays.
DeleteOf course, don't you know that no one in the region flies Air Serbia? They fly to almost every airport in ex-Yu for the fun of it. In fact, they are increasing SKP frequencies to fly an empty plane. The only time you will read from neighbouring commentators that anyone flies Air Serbia is when any other airline introduces flights to that airport. Then the first comment you will read will be, "This is going to hurt Air Serbia big time." lol
DeleteAs the writer of 20:03 i fly JU several times a year up to BG.
