NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia is increasing frequencies between Belgrade and Skopje during the upcoming winter season. The carrier last week scheduled fourteen weekly flights between the two capitals from October 25, resulting in a double-daily service. The revised schedule represents an increase from the initially planned eleven weekly rotations, as well as from the ten weekly services operated during the previous winter season. All flights are scheduled to be maintained with the ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft.

LH left so more room for JU and BEG offers a big network. Many people in Macedonia still chose to travel by bus to BEG and catch a flight there especially young people.

Ofc most people travel by Wizz including myself, Last time I traveld JU it was under the Jat branding. Austrian ussually offers slighty better deals and has more frequencies to western european destinations so I use them if I don't fly with Wizz. But JU offers still a great network. I know people in AMS who regurarly use JU and if you go to the US it's a great option.

Unless you catch and early deal, JU to region is usually around 20.000 RSD which is €180. That is a lot when you compare to the bus which starts at €60. Their main competitor from BEG is Fudex and I think they have 2 daily buses or at least they had in the past.

There is still room for growth on BEG-SKP.

JU finally seems to be moving in the direction of standardising frequencies so connections can be offered on a daily basis. Thinking of all the westbound departures from BEG that fly either in the morning or evening wave, which are now connected from SKP every day by one of the two daily flights. That's probably the next step in the network densification they've been announcing to become a more serious network carrier.

You can't have morning flights to everywhere. There is simply not enough aircraft for that. ATR fleet is flying in the mornings to VIE/PRG/SZG/KRK/LJU/ZAG/BUD/BLQ/VCE/FLR/BRI/PUY. There is maybe space to add some morning flights to OTP, but surely not for OTP, SJJ, SKP, TIA, SOF, etc...

An Embraer 190 with 100 passengers on board fully matches operational costs of an ATR 72-600 with 65 pax, not to mention better comfort and shorter travel time, so it is up to the number of passengers that can be generated, not only on fuel consumption ...

This is great!! Good move by JU!
LH and LO left so much room after leaving the market. It is more than obvious that W6 is not an option for a great portion of business travellers.
I know many people who were flying LH and LO and switched to JU now. Most of these are business pax who don’t care much if the ticket is 50 EUR more expensive than W6 but rather seeking smooth connecetions.

Of course, don't you know that no one in the region flies Air Serbia? They fly to almost every airport in ex-Yu for the fun of it. In fact, they are increasing SKP frequencies to fly an empty plane. The only time you will read from neighbouring commentators that anyone flies Air Serbia is when any other airline introduces flights to that airport. Then the first comment you will read will be, "This is going to hurt Air Serbia big time." lol
