Low cost to Croatia this summer

Ryanair in Croatia this summer
The Croatian Ministry of sea, transport and Infrastructure has announced that a total of 18 low-cost airlines will connect Croatian cities to Europe. Twelve airlines have already submitted requests for approval for flights in the period from March to October, 2009 and the ministry expects to receive additional requests from six other low-cost carriers. Ryanair will provide connections between Rijeka Airport on Krk Island in the northern Adriatic to London and Birmingham four times per week, commencing in April. Ryanair will also begin service between Osijek and London in April and between Osijek and Frankfurt in May. The Irish low-cost carrier will also connect Zadar and nine European destinations - Paris, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, London, Marseille, Pescara, Pisa and Stockholm, and link Pula and London.

During this summer season low-cost airlines will provide the same services and lines from Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb as they did last year. This should come as good news to Croatia as many feared that the country’s growing tourism industry could be hardly hit by the global financial crisis and its impacts in the aviation industry.
