PHOTOS: Niš Airport begins terminal expansion

Niš Constantine the Great Airport in Southeastern Serbia has begun overhauling its passenger terminal, which will include the expansion of the check-in and boarding areas, as well as a a new exterior and roof work. The project is being funded jointly by the Serbian government and local authorities and is valued at 210.000 euros. Construction of the new exterior has commenced, while an additional two check-in desks will be installed inside the terminal within the next week. Furthermore, the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA) plans to start construction of a new control tower next year and will invest a million euros in an instrument landing system (ILS), which provides guidance to aircraft approaching and landing on a runway during low ceilings or reduced visibility due to fog, rain or snow. Niš Airport has handled over 100.000 passengers this year and the figure is expected to grow to over 300.000 in 2017. Recently, both Swiss International Air Lines and Germania confirmed they would launch flights from Zurich to Niš next April and June respectively, joining Wizz Air and Ryanair in serving the airport.

  1. Nis ocigledno ce postati lider za niskobudzetne aerodrome Srbije. Prvenstveno ovde mislim na za sada jos neotvorene. Kraljevacku Moravu, i Uzicke Ponikve. Da bi u drzavi Srbiji juzno od Save i Dunava (van Beograda) moglo da se leti i budu samo odrzivi aerodromi, jedina mogucnost su nisko budzetne avio kompanije. Veoma nizak standard ljudi ima sansu jedino sa LCC prevoznicima. Zaprvvo Nis je primer. Mada ulaganje od par stotina hiljada evra je stvarno, srvarno tako skromno za pocetak rada ovog "ne Evropskog" terminala. Koji je vise muzejski eksponat... Zavrsetkom auto puteva 10, 11, i Moravskog Koridora stvaraju se uslovi da sva mesta udaljena go 120 kilometara od navedenih aerodroma mog stici do terminala na let do najvise 60 minuta. Samim tim dolazak ljudi iz sveta i odlazak u svet bice savim lako. Za razliku do sada. Razvijena mreza auto puteva i bar cetiri comercijalna aerodroma jeste minimum za buducnost drzave Srbije.
