Tivat Airport has recorded its fourth consecutive month of passenger growth in June by handling 189.453 travellers, a notable increase of 28.8% compared to the same month last year. During the first half of 2017, the airport welcomed 356.902 passengers through its doors, up 22.4%. The majority of travellers using the airport came from Russia, followed by the United Kingdom. The number of Russian passengers grew by 30.000 during the first six months to 193.000. Airports of Montenegro, the company which manages both of the country's international airports, said in a statement, "During 2017 we expect for both of Montenegro's airports to handle around two million passengers, ensuring yet another record year for Airports of Montenegro". The Montenegrin government has outlined plans to put the two up for concession later this year.
