Flydubai will launch services to Podgorica on November 1 via Sarajevo. The hybrid carrier has also been granted fifth freedom rights between the Bosnian and Montenegrin capitals, allowing it to sell tickets between the two cities. The airline will operate two weekly Dubai - Sarajevo - Podgorica - Sarajevo - Dubai flights, each Wednesday and Saturday, with a one hour stop in the Bosnian capital. The airline will additionally maintain two terminator flights to Sarajevo, on Mondays and Fridays, this winter for a total of four weekly services. As previously reported Flydubai is switching its seasonal Tivat flights in favour of Podgorica this winter. Additional details for the route can be found here.
Commenting on the launch, Flydubai CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith Chief, said, “With the launch of our flights to Podgorica, we continue to offer passengers more ways to explore and discover Montenegro. The popularity of our summer flights to Tivat has shown a continuous demand for more access to this part of the world and we are delighted to be offering flights to Montenegro on a regular basis”. The airline's Senior Vice President, Jeyhun Efendi, noted, “With the launch of this new route, Flydubai will become the first airline to offer regular services between Podgorica and Sarajevo. We look forward to the new opportunities that this will provide along with the flows of trade and tourism that these flights can offer”.

ReplyDeleteNot really convenient for Montenegrins, backtrack to Sarajevo, then wait for an hour... I guess Turkish will still be competitive on routes from Podgorica to the Gulf...
ReplyDeleteWhat backtrack? Montenegro passengeres enter in TDG and fly to DXB. The only ones that'll have some sort of a wait are the Bosnians on those two flights, 1 hour each way.
DeleteDid you read the article at all? The routing is DXB-SJJ-TGD-SJJ-DXB and the wait in SJJ is one hour.

DeleteRoutes to Dubai AND Sarajevo? Too many good news for one day :) I think an hour in Sarajevo will definitely be more acceptable for TGD passengers to DXB than having connecting flights and layovers in IST, BEG or elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThere is no sense that from Dubai you go first to Sarajevo, and then to Podgorica. From Podgorica you must go first to Sarajevo, and only just then to Dubai. It takes at least 1.5 hours more per direction than in inversely case, to go first to TGD and than to SJJ. That is absolutely mad.

DeleteSaying it takes 1.5 hours more per direction is pure nonsense. DXB-SJJ is barely 50 miles or around 10 minutes longer than DXB-TGD per sector.

Ok, I made mistake, I admit, but I included 1 hour stop in SJJ. I still think that it would be smarter that they fly to TGD first.

In flight to SJJ you already cross Podgorica's geographic longitude, and you arrive in SJJ first which is more to west than Podgorica, it means further, and wait 1 hour before arriving in Podgorica.

DeleteAs both Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are signatories of a Free Skies Agreement with the United Arab Emirates, such services are automatically authorised since they are stipulated by the agreement. Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo also have the same agreement in place with the UAE.
