The Croatian Supreme Court has confirmed a verdict by the Zagreb County Court that the strike by Croatia Airlines' pilots, cabin crew and mechanics planned for earlier this month was illegal, thus upholding a ban on industrial action. However, unlike the County Court's ruling, which noted that the company's ORCA union did not negotiate their collective agreement in good faith, the Supreme Court concluded that the legal preconditions to allow the strike to go ahead were not met because conciliation procedures with the airline's management were not held before the union announced the strike. The appeal against the County Court's ruling was filed by Croatia Airlines' unions who insist that they had met all necessary conditions to go on strike. Unions are unhappy with the proposed terms of their new collective agreements, as well as alleged mismanagement at the company.

So you are no longer allowed to strike in Croatia?
ReplyDeleteYou are allowed to go any where and work if you feel you get more salaries. It is free market out. You are not allowed to blackmail and hold things for ransom when it is high tourist season and important to the country
DeleteYou're allowed to strike if the actions leading to strike are following certain rules. In this case it was a malicious attempt by unions (obviously instructed by some people not wishing well to Croatia) to ruin the company. That is why the court has banned the strike. Hopefully employees will open their eyes and stop following those who insist on strike at all cost.
DeleteRyanair in Germany informed company 48 hours prior to strike. In Croatia you have to tell them to postpone strike one month in advance.

Please, stop it. People have a right to a more DECENT life. This is important for the image and prestige of the company and staff.

DeleteThey already have extremely decent life, much better than 99.9% of the population. They are sucking the blood of the ordinary Croatian citizens.

If management would be capable like in Greece (Aegean) or Latvia (Air Baltic) where countries are also in very bad situation but still air companies are growing each day and make huge profit, than Croatia would be commercial company, staff would have salaries like in other companies in Europe (and will not have need to go abroad) and for sure it will bring money to Croatian budget instead of "sucking the blood of the ordinary Croatian citizens".

I would be rather taken to other parts of the world by companies which are not draining money out of my pockets as Croatia Airlines does. I sincerely hope that company will go bust.
DeleteThe best for citizens of Croatia would be if the govt. would let Croatia Airlines manage on their own. If they fail other companies will fly, simple as that.

OU has been investing in its product, cost cutting measures because of the competition and had to sacrifice Heathrow to carry on. Of course, the staff now are demanding after facing so many obstacles. It is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT! Just pray hard it doesn't happen to you or your family member. Viva demorkacija!
The staff can find other jobs, no issues for them if they have the competencies needed. The pilots and mechanics will find jobs without any issues. maybe not in Croatia but they will earn more money. So all good for them.
DeleteCabin crews will have a bit more difficulty but they can look in other areas of business, even in Croatia.
Adria Airways is now hiring :) Maybe they should go across the border. Flying CRJ700/900 instead of Q400. Why not?

To help Croatia Airlines realize their destiny I have already made several trips to/from Croatia by other companies instead with CA.

DeleteGood verdict, if OU staff are not happy, they can leave and clean toilets in Germany! They are well looked after and receive a competitive salary as it is!
