Adria Airways' owner 4K Invest will recapitalise the company with an additional four million euros, on top of the ten million it has already committed to investing into the airline during the first quarter of 2019. The funds will be used for "further business development of the Slovenian airline". In a statement, the company said, "The decision was adopted taking into account the firm commitments and strong beliefs of the owner in the successful future of the Slovenian airline, which is becoming one of the strongest regional air carriers, operating scheduled and ACMI services in Central and South East Europe". Last month, the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency warned Adria it needed to provide proof of its liquidity by the end of the year or face penalties.

Adria's CEO, Holger Kowarsch, said, "We work hard to position Adria Airways as a stable business for further growth. We already achieved substantial development and we will continue to expand the potentials of this company and build it into an even stronger airline in the future", Previously, Mr Kowarsch noted that 4K Invest has long-term plans for the Slovenian carrier. "Our plans for Adria are long-term and we want the company to grow and develop in the future. We see huge potential in the company, with our priority being to stabilise our operations and restore the trust of our passengers. There is a lot of hard work ahead of us, but we are confident that we will succeed", the CEO said.

Initially, 4K intended to recapitalise the Slovenian carrier with at least ten million euros by the end of the year, however, this has been pushed back until the first quarter of 2019. The airline's owner has not said when the latest four million euro recapitalisation payment will be made. Adria has faced significant operational issues over the past few months, which the airline blames on crew shortages and technical problems with some of its aircraft. The situation has somewhat dissipated with the suspension of three routes, which were planned to operate throughout the winter. However, Adria has previously said that sporadic flight cancellations may persist until December.

Don't worry they took a lot of money out of Adria in the past 3 years, now they will or maybe even not return just a small portion of that money.

Any news on OU and their liquidity issues? There was an article in the press that said they don't have enough money to make it through the winter. Could they get a new loan or sell some assets?

JP and OU should cooperate and synchronize their operations. OU could use one of JP's regional jets in winter time.

Here's my prediction - they will continue to mismanage and bleed the airline dry until it gets to its inevitable end - bankruptcy. The Govt will be pressured into not allowing this to happen and they will be 'forced' into buying back the airline and 4K will walk away with HUGE smiles and full pockets !

Till now they invest almost 23 million EUR (1,1 invesment during buying Adria, 0,1 to Slovenia, 7,6 million for name if that is true that was done by their sister company, 10 millions last month, 4 millions now. And that is not enough to make solvent because of huge mistakes in 2018.

This is not true - they said the WILL invest 10 million and 4 million - they haven't acctually invest anything.

And those 6 million euros were never given to JP - one of the 4K companies bought the Adria name via an IOU - meaning, they will pay for the name in the next, if I'm not mistaken, 20 years. But on the accounting books it said +6 million.

Long tradition has little to do with it. Look at Malev. It was 66 years old when it was bankrupted to make way for Wizz Air.

You will know the end is near when they announce that Adria will completely be focusing on its ACMI deals. After a few weeks we will be bidding farewell to another European airline.

Why do you think ACMI means instant end. Some airlines are doing very well with that model.

Because we are talking about 4K Invest and they said the same before Darwin went bust. In fact it wasn't even a week in between that announcement and the announcement that they were declaring bankruptcy.

I highly doubt that. If they go bankrupt, that money goes to nothing.

But as I have said many times - if they produce any real cash, then we will know there's someone behind 4K. Until now, they haven't invest a single euro in the company.

Purger in his article predict they will have to invest more than 10 million because of cancellations and use of Saab 2000. And now they urgently invest another 4 million. He said that it will not be enough and they have to invest even more just to make company solvent.

    In the event of bankruptcy:
    1. Who will take over LJU destinations? FR?
    2. I guess for transfers in the Balkans, JU and OU will be the winners

      1. Probably mix of LCCs and legacies. My guess is Swiss, Lufthansa and Austrian would quikcly start flights.
      2. There is Montenegro too :)

But in the end I do hope Adria survives these problems.

There is a lot of money in the market, and JP is an excellent laundry machine. It burns more than it can produce. It seems 4K is more successfull finding fonds than running an airline ops. That's good news bcz 14mio will vaporate before it happeneds.
I don't think JP needs money for further" development. They need first to bring it from the underground.
ps Don't misslead. To recap the company does not necesserliy mean ->inject the money into accounting. That means something very far from that.
Remember the case of Skywork Airlines from CH who was over a after a few weeks they did very the same.

I am getting really worried now. This situation reminds us of Monarch, who were stuggling a lot and in the end look what happened.
Also in time of rising oil prices, fierce competition and airlines merging and exploring new markets, tough times ahead are awaiting not only JP but also JU and OU.

The hungry big lions are waiting for the next weak prey in order to eat it alive, this is just what the law of the jungle is about.

JP should focus on business travellers and inverting in the business product because this is what we are lacking: a sophisticated, regional business airline, which is exactly what they can do.
Also consider important financial European routes: LCY, ORY, LIN.

Also other important destinations: TLV and DXB.

That would be business travellers based only in Slovenia then - and for that you certainly don't need 19 planes.

OS and/or LH offer better service than JP (bigger planes and no additional transfer in LJU)
The only way JP could be competitive for this group is price- but then on the other hand, I as a business traveller dont really care for the price, since im not paying for the ticket from my own pocket.

Why doesn't Adria become a fully low cost airline. The "transfer hub" strategy has obviously failed which is illustrated by how many of the 8 new routes launched in the last year have remained in the schedule. People want lower prices and P2P travel is the way to go for Adria.

Because Adria wants to convert Ljubljana into a leading, regional hub.
JP is the only airline in ex-Yu connected to HAM after JU dropped this route.

To capitalize means poor balance sheet looks better. Will have no effect to the type of problems JP has. What's the JP's annual turnover? 150mio? 14mio is a joke about the aviation
