NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier Wizz Air introduced new, year-round, flights between Belgrade and Lyon last Friday, linking the two cities with a nonstop service for the first time. The new routes launch was symbolically marked at Lyon Airport earlier today. The city joins a growing number of French destinations being served from Belgrade, including Paris, Beauvais and Nice. JAT Yugoslav Airlines maintained services from Belgrade to France's third largest city via Zagreb until 1991. Both Belgrade and Lyon are managed by the concession and construction company VINCI.

I'm wondering if AS could have offered this route before Wizz.

I believe they introduced so many new routes this year that it would not be realistic to see some more for the time being.
From the other side they could have introduced it few years ago, but at that time EY was deciding which new JU route will be open...or not

Well said. It probably would have worked if launched a few years ago.

      Vinci "powers" both airports.

Effectively what does that mean? Will Vinci give incentives at both airports?

It means nothing. Wizz can get an incentive for opening a new route from the airport as any other airline that opens a new route from an airport gets an incentive. Common practice at most airports in the world.

Funny how the first flight took place on the 15th but I suppose no one wanted to come and celebrate on the weekend.
