NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled 69.699 passengers in April, representing a decrease of 55.9% on the pre-pandemic 2019. During the month, the airport saw 1.620 aircraft movements, down 42.1% on 2019. Over the first four months, Ljubljana Airport welcomed 196.358 travellers through its doors, representing a decrease of 60.8% on 2019. The General Manager of operator Fraport Slovenija, Babett Stapel, noted that pre-Covid traffic levels should be reached in 2026. “We expect 880.000 passengers this year, which is only 15.000 less than last year's initial forecast. This year we will have 104% more passengers than last year, but still 49% less than in 2019. However, the number of travellers will double, so passenger traffic is recovering. We're going in the right direction. I do not expect for us to achieve the results from 2019 next year. I wish we could, but due to high fuel prices, war in Ukraine and uncertainty, I estimate that we will reach pre-pandemic levels in 2026, that is, we will handle 1.8 million or 1.9 million passengers”.

If we don't get at least a few Amelia planes stationed at Lju (subsedized ofc) we can just make Lju a cargo airport

amelia international is slovene-french airline operating mix of e145s, atrs and a319s + 2 cargo planes. They have a few of their own routes, but they mostly operate for AirFrance. They publicly said that they are willing to open routes from Ljubljana and Maribor if those would be subsidised to ensure that they arent loosing money

      Quote from Sierra 5:

Amelia can base their aircraft in Brnik whenever they decide to do so. Why would they need government funds?

Because most of the routes in slovenia aren't profitable that's why they want money and everyone will want it.

So when they said no adria doesn't need any money, but now they are throwing it in lh and others outside the country they bassicly screwed their idea.

I think Fraport airports are generating revenue for the ongoing construction of the new Frankurt am Main Terminal 3. While it should be the other way round. LJU is part of it.
