NEWS FLASH

Aegean Airlines, which launched operations between Ljubljana and Athens last week, has extended its planned operations between the two capitals past September 29. The carrier will now serve the route for an additional two weeks until October 13. Within the former Yugoslavia, the Greek carrier plans to maintain operations during the winter months from Athens to Belgrade, Skopje and Zagreb.

At least something. Hopefully they will be flying to LJU in W24/25.

Firstly they need to fly in summer 2024 in order to fly in W24/25.

Will LH consider sending the A320 family fleet at least once a day to LJU?
It's really odd that we have the same type of aircraft as the German villages of 30.000 inhabitants.
Even Paderborn gets the A320 so I don't understand why they can't bring it to an EU capital city like Ljubljana

If demand is there they will send not only the A320 but the A321 so that means that demand is not there to upgrade aircrafts.

Both flights to Muc and Fra are full, they just don't seem to either have the extra planes or the crew to up the aircraft size. They are slowly starting to use e90s on frankfurt when one extra is available and on 4 out of 6 flights to/from munich im booked on A319

LH was already using 2 daily 319 to FRA last summer, but switched back to CRJ. Capacity issues, not lack of demand.

If it were "capacity issues" instead of demand (read: earnings), then how do you explain why LH is not deploying the CRJs on other routes of theirs, instead of bigger equipment? So you guys really think LH hates LJU? Any airline deployed the type of a/c on such routes where its commercially most viable

With CRJ and bad connectivity to other hubs and almost no competition in LJU they can sell those seats very well with enormous yields. So they don't hate LJU, they LOVE it and making huge profit at the moment.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. And that's also the reason why OS will stick to KLU. LH group won't have interest to jeopardize its own yields

Will be possible daily year-round? Aegean is a very nice airline, good service, prices, planes with beautiful new livery. They have big potential in Ljubljana also with other destinations as SKG,HER, RHO, KGS, CFU!

SKP was 2 weekly all those years with Aegean and this winter they upgrade ATH-SKP to 6weekly(almost daily) so if there is demand Aegean could increase LJU to 4 or 5 weekly flights next summer.

Winter ATH has a potential if Athens arrival time is adapted to connecting flights. At the moment it's too late (except for Middle east connections).

So we currently have most of Adria's destinations restored.
    Athens - Aegean Airlines
    Prishtina - GP Aviation
    Skopje - Wizz Air
    FRA,MUC,ZRH, BRU - LH
As an alternative to Tirana, Pristina, Sarajevo, we have Tivat and Nis, Athens (I speak as a new good substitute).
Charters have been reinstated by Trade Air.
We are only waiting for VIE, CPH, MAN, BER, PRG as well as Spanish destinations.
It seems the situation is not as bad as many people make it out to be with their negative comments.

@Anon Exactly! From all the routes stated above only FRA is restored in terms of frequency, capacity and schedule. All others are FAR from being restored. We badly need morning flights to MUC, ZRH, BRU and VIE to improve CONNECTIVITY. But IMHO this will happen only if an airliner will establish a base at LJU. It is true that all new routes are very welcome and I hope the trend will continue. But the number of daily flights to LJU is still 40% down compared to 2019 and the forecast for July is the same, even the same level as 2022, while the other airports in region are doing great.
