Ljubljana Airport closes in on millionth passenger

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled its 900.000th passenger of the year last Thursday and is now on course to welcome its millionth traveller in a single year for the first time since 2019. Last year, Ljubljana Airport handled 970.152 passengers. The airport anticipates welcoming a total of 1.2 million customers in 2023, some 30% below its pre-pandemic 2019 levels, and down 34% on 2018, which was its busiest on record. Until the end of the year, a new service between Skopje and the Slovenian capital will be launched by Wizz Air, while Turkish Airlines will deploy its wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft on select Ljubljana flights in late October.

Swiss will also increase ZRH-LJU to 12 flights per week.

Is it possible that I’ve noticed Swiss landing with their A321 lately?

For the past week flight LX2276 has always been with A320 and even A321 on 15.

Not true. Tomorrow it is E290. The day after tomorrow is A220.

I live near Vodice and have seen Swiss A321 landing quite a few times in the past week, perhaps 10 days.

Probably ZRH capacity is already higher than in 2019.

Yeah one flight with A321 means that the demand is bigger then in 2019.

I didn’t say anything about demand, I said that the capacity will be higher than in 2019. And, please, before commenting, check basic data, e.g. about the number of A321 in September.

LJU should comfortably finish at ~1.2m this year. Assuming linear growth it’ll see between 1.5-1.6m next year, at which point there will be little to no need for a national carrier imo.

Couldn’t agree more. Let everybody forget national carrier once and for all, would be throwing a lot of money down the drain.

Agreed. Other EU country in the EXYU could learn from this example.

What an inspirational example. Serbia should do the same.

Exactly. All airlines that are throwing money down the drain and are not profitable should do the same.

That means Sarajevo will finish on 1.4M which would be amazing
