NEWS FLASH

The Swiss Information Safety Investigation Board (STSB) has revealed a “serious incident” that took place on June 20 involving a Swiss-registered easyJet Airbus A320 aircraft at Pristina Airport bound for Geneva. The STSB noted the A320 was cleared for takeoff from runway 35 while a car belonging to Pristina Airport was on the active runway near threshold seventeen at the eastern end of the runway. “After lift-off, the aircraft flew over the car at a sufficient height. The flight crew stated that they had flown over the car with the landing gear still extended”, the STSB said. Kosovo’s Aeronautical Accident and Incident Investigations Commission has launched an investigation into the matter.

    - Sir, ma'am. You must move your vehicle, we've been receiving complaints.
    - ... (inaudible due to airplane flying overhead)
    - No sir, it's not about people minding their own business, you are endangering air traffic. You are literally parked on the runway.

Airports need to face serious consequences for such incidents, including criminal prosecutions. Otherwise it's just a matter of time a real disaster will happen
