NEWS FLASH
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has reversed its decision to suspend all flights from the Emirati capital until June 30. Previously citing the situation in the Middle East, as well as airspace closures, services between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, as well as Abu Dhabi and Sarajevo were to be cancelled. However, following a tumultious night on Monday, June 23, operations from the Gulf states have mostly returned to normal after Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire in hostilities. Since then, Iraq, Israel and Iran have also reopened their respective airspace for the first time in weeks, although most airlines continue to avoid the latter. As a result, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will now restore operatipns from tomorrow, June 26. Ticket sales for remaining flights in June have also been restored.
What a terrible decision
ReplyDeleteTrue I'd much rather end up like Ukraine 752, Azal 8243, Malaysia Airlines 17 and Korean Air 07
DeleteThey are not flying through any country. That way they definitely avoid having any accident.
DeleteThey never have to resume flights. Will ensure they never have a single accident.
DeleteOr they can just avoid flying atm especially considering how trigger happy some of the countries in the area are
DeleteThe airspaces have all opened.
DeleteThey will be missed
ReplyDeleteRead the article?
DeleteThis is such as stupid decision that I have no words. Especially now when things are relatively back to normal in terms of airspace. They were operating flights yesterday but today when flights are operating normally they are the only one to suspend flights and they are going to keep it going for a week.
ReplyDeleteWhen you sit at the front of that cockpit and get "danger pay" for flying through an area affected by missle attacks from both ends, you can decide if you want to continue to fly there or now. I applaude Wizz for the decision they made.
DeleteGreat. Keep applauding. They will be back in the sku in 2 days or less.
DeleteIt makes no sense. The situation is completely fine now. Why are they suspending flights?
DeleteTold you they would abandon this decision.
DeleteI wasn’t aware Ematri carries were affected?
ReplyDeleteThey are not. This reeks of something else completely being the reason but they gave this as an explanation.
DeleteMaybe crews dont feel safe to continue operating there.
DeleteSure
DeleteMy guess is that passengers are cancelling their flights and bookings are way down.
DeleteAlso, I suppose airlines are avoiding certain airspaces so there might be ATC delays which might result in the payment of compensations. Then there is also the question of insurance premiums which might have gone up since hostilities started.
There could be a million different reasons. However, knowing Wizz Air, I think money is somehow the reason.
The very successful "Go East" strategy from the visionary himself.
ReplyDeleteDubaji cokolada wins.
Deletewhy on their website it is written “on time” and not “cancelled” for 26, 27 flights,
ReplyDeleteWhat is the source please i need confirmation, my flight is on July 1st
ReplyDeleteThe company will give you the best confirmation. I understand the confusion since this article was originally about how Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will halt operations, but during the day the company seems to have reversed the decision and the article was subsequently change.
DeleteWhat now??? I can see everything is canceled for tomorrow on Wizz homepage and AUH airport from Wizz. And I can only read this "news" on this website.. Everybody else still stating until June 30th
