All capital city airports in the former Yugoslavia will see their capacity levels grow during the first month of the 2025/26 winter season in November, with Wizz Air remaining the region’s largest carrier.
Belgrade Airport has the most available seats on scheduled flights in November, standing at 808.908. The figure represents an increase of 11.5% on 2024. Air Serbia will continue to maintain its position as the largest carrier, holding 47.3% of all available scheduled capacity. Wizz Air will add close to 60.000 seats, growing by 51.1% with a total share of 21.9%. Zagreb follows as the second largest with 436.259 available seats on scheduled flights during the month. It represents an increase of 10.5% on the previous year. Croatia Airlines, which will grow its seat count by 36.000 or 22.8%, will be its largest carrier with 44.5% of total capacity followed by Ryanair with 26.2%. Ryanair will increase capacity by 3.3%.
Pristina Airport will have 368.942 available seats, with capacity growth currently projected at 3%. GP Aviation has the largest volume of seats, holding a 32.9% share. It is followed by easyJet with 16.1% of total capacity. Skopje Airport will boast 331.420 seats in November, up 28.9% on the back of Wizz Air’s expansion. The low cost carrier will grow its seat count by 55.342 or 40% on the same month in 2024. It will hold the largest share at 58.4%. It is followed by Pegasus Airlines with a 9.8% share. Sarajevo will have 183.896 scheduled seats on the market in November, representing an increase of 8.8% on 2024. Ryanair, which is growing its capacity by 20.822 seats or 111.4% year-on-year, is the largest carrier with 21.5% of total capacity, followed by Pegasus Airlines with 15.4%.
Podgorica Airport has 126.252 seats on scheduled flights in November, up 2%. Turkish Airlines is the largest carrier, despite a reduction in operations this winter, with 20.4% of total capacity, ahead of flag carrier Air Montenegro with an 18.7% share. Finally, Ljubljana has a total of 125.284 seats on scheduled services, up a strong 19.4% on November 2024, with the launch of several new routes. Turkish Airlines will be the airport’s largest, holding 16.2% of all seats. Swiss will replace Lufthansa as the second largest carrier as the latter will offload part of its operations on the Munich - Ljubljana service to Air Dolomiti. The Swiss airline will hold a 13.5% capacity share.
LJU close to overtaking Podgorica.
ReplyDeleteWon't be long lived with Wizz opening a base next summer.
DeletePodgorica is cathing up Sarajevo actually :D
DeleteBravo Fraport!
DeletePodgorica catching up Sarajevo? Lol, right...
Delete186.000 / 124.000 😂
DeleteDifference between Sarajevo and Podgorica is big!
DeleteWe will see next year when Wizz Air opens its base.
DeleteYes, we will see when Ryanair opens a base in Sarajevo, Eurowings new three lines. We'll just see 😉
DeleteWho knows, maybe Wizz open base in LJU next year and base 2 maybe 3 aircraft.
DeleteAnon1112 This is very probable, based on recent talks with the government.
DeleteKUM until all that happens podgorica will already reach sarajevo with the Wizz air base :))
Delete10:18 this is just planned numbers which all airports will not reach them for sure , it means SJJ will have 150-160k passengers
DeleteAnon 18:58, duuh but its planned for Podgorica as well, not only Sarajevo
DeleteSkopje growing 331k pax and 29% growth in November , finally showing its real potential , amazing results!!!👏👏👏
ReplyDeletei didnt expect this from SKP to be honest especially not in winter time , i am positive surprise by the results , well done!!!
DeleteWhy do you respond to your own comment lol. You have 5 new routes launching October/November. What did you expect?
DeleteAre you nostradamus to know who responding or not ?
DeleteYou don't have to be Nostradamus to recognise that the same person wrote the first comment and the first response.
DeleteWhat potential? It was and will always remain behind PRN.
Delete@11.21 congrats for bringing PRN in for no reasons...
DeleteTells more about you than him
He asked for it.
DeleteSKP was in front of PRN before Covid just check the results , PRN overpass SKP after Covid , but now getting close to PRN again and will reach in years coming!!!
Delete@18.33 youve got even less clue
DeleteSKP was never above PRN in yearly results. Maybe for couple of months, not sure about this. But for year long results, never.
DeleteThe growth in Belgrade is happening despite Air Serbia being stagnant.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure how it is that they are achiecing almost no growth while they have multiple new routes like PVG, TBS, etc.
It is W6 and LHG airlines adding capacity.
DeleteJU is indeed more or less stagnant despite increased number of destinations and more aircraft in its fleet. 🤷♂️
ASL seems focused on increasing the destinations list even if they fly to each just a couple of times a week.
DeleteMy opinion is that if it densified its current network it would be able to better compete with the big airlines for the regular travelers and business people.
What do you guys think?
Sounds realistic. At least on key routes.
DeleteAgree, increasing frequencies on existing regional and European routes should be their priority now.
DeleteAlso launching daily TLV. There is a rush of airlines flying there AND neither TK or PG are allowed by their government to fly to Israel.
So JU could act as a hub for travelers to and from Israel. Their network in the region will provide feed as well.
+1
DeleteNiste u krivu.
DeleteJU is downsizing plane capacity from GetJets A320 to Baltics A220. Also is expecting two E195s on it's own. To me it looks like they are going for more frequencies rather than capacity. To certain routes at least.
Increasing frequencies is the most urgent issue JU has to solve if they ever want to catch up with their competitors !!!
DeleteRyanair will never reach Wizz air numbers in Ex-yu ,even in winter they have 300k less passengers , I think summer 2026 the difference will be over a million :D
ReplyDeleteRyanair pushed W6 out of Vienna, that is huge!
DeleteRyanair had more seats than Wizz in ex-Yu all of last year and most of this year.
DeleteAnyway ryanair left major european hubs , if we see who left and who add more airports ryanair is in huge minus then Wizz ..... next year Wizz air getting brand new planes , expecting even more growth
DeleteAnd how much has Wizz Air shrunk over the last two years?
DeleteNot exactly, Ryanair is also strongly reducing Vienna, and if no decrease it taxes happens in the next few months, they might leave completely ...
DeleteWizs shrunk routes because of the engine issue as we all know not because they wanted to do , they didnt have other option , slowly but they are returning their previous routes , do not compare ryanairs leaving airports with wizz air aircraft troubles
DeleteI am sure closures of bases like Abu Dhabi are also because of engines...
Delete@Anonymous 09:14
DeleteNo, FR is not leaving VIE, they are going to be the only real LCC in town, 53 year round routes plus another 27 seasonal for a total of 80!
Wizz air was never focused that much to Abu dhabi , their main focus is Europe , they send all that planes to Europe as their maintenance planes getting delayed and they did nit recieve any new so far , I guess thats the decision
DeleteFR is attacking W6 a lot in Poland and Romania.
DeleteI think a change of management is necessary for them.
@9.18
DeleteOh it was very much focused on Abu Dhabi. They just failed there.
Ryanair will be around when all the rest are long forgotten. Its pockets are very very deep.
Delete09:23 thats bad prediction but at least they try , they were the only European carrier to open a base with 14 aircrafts in the Middle east, which is not a small job , if we know how many home airline are there , at least they try :))
DeleteIt was a stupid gamble. They were never going to be allowed open skies type of access to India or Africa.
DeleteNot only was it stupid, it was extremely costly.
DeleteThey have been promised rights to India though
DeleteNot by the Indians they did not.
DeleteLow-cost airline Ryanair has announced that it will review routes and cease operations at some airports in France, Germany, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, as well as Spain, due to increased airport fees and taxes.
DeleteThis saying everything
Bravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteSuch a marvelous coast and islands you have.
DeleteAnd flag carrier which uses ZERO opportunities and potentials of that marvelous coast and islands, and inland I would add, with shameful 13 % market share, 60 % of which are feeding routes to LHG hubs. That much about Bravo Hrvatska.
DeleteThis is first time Skopje to get so close to Prishtina , probably will not overpass but its coming really close and all this is because of the W6 new addition to Skopje .....
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm sure it will overtake Zagreb and Belgrade soon too....
DeleteWho said will overtake anyone ??? Do you read my comment or just run to write something ? Clearly I write is coming close after such a long time of big difference between both airports
DeleteBefore Covid difference between SKP and PRN was less than 100k!
DeleteYes but after covid pristina start growing and skopje not , skopje finally after two years is starting to grow again , which of course pristina by that time went far away ...
DeleteWizz Air clearly owns Skopje. If they ever leave, SKP collapses overnight.
DeleteHow is Air Serbia in BEG?
Delete^ It has a much smaller share than Wizz Air in Skopje. On top of the fact that if anything did happen with JU, there is another airline based in BEG, unlike in Skopje.
Delete09:48 same as every airport in Ex-yu if ryanair and wizz air leaves every airport will feel that
DeleteGrowth everywhere is a good sign.
ReplyDeleteThese are nice numbers
DeleteBut the European economy is about to collapse! Just like it is about to collapse every year for the last 4 years now! 🤪
Deleteex-Yu passengers and airport growth levels have been exceeding most in Europe for the past four years.
DeleteNot southern Europe. Portugal, Spain, most of France, Italy, Romania and Greece have been growing like crazy.
DeleteSame for Malta, Albania and Cyprus.
More importantly scheduled capacity for W25/26 is way up!
https://airserviceone.com/air-service-one-bitesize-analysis-of-the-day-16th-october-2025-europes-top-20-airports-in-w25-26/
Hungary too has grown by a lot.
DeleteVINCI seems to do a great job there.
Ryanair is slowly eating everyone in Bosnia. Just watch what happens next summer.
ReplyDeleteAre they going to attack W6 in TZL?
DeleteIndirectly through Sarajevo, yes.
DeleteThey're close to introducing some really nice leisure flights if some "analysts" don't dissuade the airport.
DeleteYes we see how they are eating from 300k passengers in August , SJJ drop to 180k in November and most likely will be the same numbers all winter , where most of the airports doing 300k + in winter , SJJ is summer airprot in winter is dead
DeleteOMG, have you really just compared numbers in August and November? Some people should really really refrain from posting here
DeleteI’m always fascinated by the amount of hate speech on this forum. We got very good news today affecting the entire region and somehow we turned the comment section into a fight fast. Airports in our region are small for European levels and any increase in offered seat capacity is great. Please keep in mind that the entire region combined is smaller than, let’s say, Romania — both territory- and population-wise.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteYugoslavia was bigger than Romania by territory.
Deleteand by a few thousand larger in population that Romania at the end of the 1980s.
DeleteYugoslavia is over and is not coming back. We need to live in the present.
DeleteWe are commenting ex-YU region geographically and population on ex-YU aviation portal.
DeleteEX being the key word.
DeleteI know, but we are commenting the region. You can imagine region instead of ex-YU and ok.
DeleteNope, the key word is Yugoslav unlike "u regionu"
DeleteGood to see these numbers!!
Podgorica numbers will explode once Wizz opens the base next year.
ReplyDeleteThey will reach LJU and SJJ numbers for sure I guarantee this
DeleteLJU for sure, SJJ no chance
DeleteEasyJet doing well in PRN! Number 2 airline.
ReplyDeleteAir Prishtina with Condor, Chair and Eurowings.
DeleteGP Aviation.
easyJet
Isn't Condor leaving PRN this winter?
DeleteLeaving is the wrong word here, local Reisebüros have chartered another airline more likely
DeleteVery nice. All cities. From Ljubljana to Skopje.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteYou mean od Vardara pa do Triglava, od Djerdapa pa do Jadrana? 🙂
DeleteRyanair is less than half of Wizz' capacity so much for being number one
ReplyDeleteSwiss is the underperformer even if you add the Edelweiss numbers
ReplyDeleteYet, no Sarajevo-Skopje direct line.
ReplyDeleteUnlike during yugo times "in the darkness of communism" when SJJ-SKP had been operated by both JAT and Adria on 100 and 150 seater jets
Delete
