NEWS FLASH
Ryanair is extending its check-in and bag drop deadlines from November 10. At all airports served by the airline, these will now close sixty minutes before scheduled departure, up from the current forty minutes, in order to provide passengers with more time to clear security and passport control queues. This comes as Ryanair installs more self-service bag-drop kiosks across its network, with over 95% of airports having these kiosks by October. These self-service kiosks are fully integrated with the Ryanair app, giving passengers the ability to check in bags and print bag tags, which speeds up bag-drop and cuts waiting times. “This latest improvement will give these 20% of Ryanair guests who wish to check-in a bag, slightly more time to get through airport security and passport queues and arrive at their departure gate before boarding starts. The remaining 80% of passengers who don’t check-in bags are unaffected and will continue to check-in online (before they arrive at the airport) and go straight to their departure gate when they arrive”, Ryanair said in a statement.

So basically stealing 20 minutes is portrayed as an improvement?
ReplyDelete20 more minutes to reflect on your life choices, airline choice in particular. Or maybe to spend it in Duty Free.
DeletePractically nobody gets to the airport 40 minutes before their flight if they have luggage. This is not a meaningful change for most people.
DeleteI don't work in marketing, but as a customer when i see non-priority that tells they don't care about me, which could be true or not. Perhaps Ryan should use a different phrase
DeleteAwful. I also don’t agree with this: “These self-service kiosks are fully integrated with the Ryanair app, giving passengers the ability to check in bags and print bag tags, which speeds up bag-drop and cuts waiting times.” It means us doing the work for them while paying them for it. It’s also the reason why these times are being extended. People struggle doing it whereas the employees before did it faster.
ReplyDeleteThis is a massive downgrade in service and it shows the level of disrespect airlines (especially FR) have for their passengers. Not to mention having to wait even longer at airports now, when you struggle to find a seat at most of them. Flying really is just an unpleasant chore these days.
FR is done. They are just refusing to accept the truth. Their way of business is EOL (end of life). Either they will adapt or they will vanish
DeleteRyanair are best avoided. By the time you have payed for extras and been penalised by them you can fly stress free with a much better Airline such as Air Serbia, Croatia Airlines or Lufthansa group and save money also.
Delete13:57 so silly mate
DeleteOne of you is blaming Ryanair for there being no seats at airports, the other one is calling time of death on an airline that is the biggest in Europe and growing faster than all its major competitors.
Delete@17:34 I never blamed FR for lack of seats. That’s obviously the responsibility of airports.
DeleteDo people across the world miss points so profoundly as in the Balkans as well, or is this just specific to our region??
Lol Ryanair is the most successful airline in Europe. How exactly is it “done”?
DeleteExactly. Ryanair's net value is greater than the size of several countries in the EXYU region. It'll be around a while more dont you worry.
DeleteUgh, one of the things I loved about Ryanair is coming last minute as long as it's not a major transportation hub. I hate wasting time waiting for planes. And yes, sometimes there aren't enough seats (Zadar).
ReplyDeleteIf it werent for FR i wouldnt have been able too see most of Europe for the money i spent so i dont get all the whining. As long as you respect the allowances and dont go hauling a truckload jn your backpack expecting to avoid addituonal charges, you are good to go. Its a very cheap flying bus that lets you visit most of Europe withing 3 hours and for dirt cheap. Cant pay the lady of the night 9.99, have a good time and expect a lobster when thats the price of crabs.
ReplyDeleteAmen
DeleteGet out of your FR bubble and realize 90% of the world is outside Europe. ULCC model struggles in many other areas and continents, with Spirit Airlines as the latest example.
DeleteWhat a pointless, idiotic comment. I know that Europe is not the world but FR made it possible for me to travel all of it cheap, as such it was worth it and i appreciate it ad a company. Just like Frontier allowed me to fly all over NA for example.
DeleteNo need to lie, Frontier has only 3 destinations in Mexico and doesn't fly to Canada, Alaska and Hawaii, so it could not have taken you all over NA.
DeleteFrontier had losses in 4 out of 5 previous years. They are returning many planes, deferring dozens of others. Fuel costs will only make things much worse for them. Frontier is not the best example of lowcost/discount airline.
Ryanair is profitable in Europe due to market and regulatory environment. They are not expanding in America or other continents as they know rhey wouldn't be profitable elsewhere.
Dude you are missing the point of the whole post. I do not care about their profitability or iternal affairs. I care about flying CHEAP. And i took Frontier as an example cause it took me to Philliy, PRC, Phoenix and Las Vegas, so yeah it did cover large section of the US at least. Although trough codeshares with Copa nad Volaris you can even fly down technically to Argentina with it.
