Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled 1.078.299 passengers in August, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.4%, marking its busiest month on record and the second consecutive month in which traffic exceeded one million travellers. The number of commercial aircraft movements increased by 3.3%. During the January - August period, Belgrade Airport welcomed 6.316.012 passengers, representing growth of 7.1%, or 420.594 additional travellers, compared with the same period last year.

The CEO of Belgrade Airport, Chivoine Rem, said, “Handling more than one million passengers for two consecutive months reflects the dedication of our entire team, our strong partnerships with airlines and Belgrade’s growing appeal as a destination. This record-breaking trend further reinforces our commitment to continued investment and enhancing the passenger experience as we continue to transform air travel in Belgrade”.

ReplyDeleteAs far as I can see, we will see more than a million in September as well, third month in a row. Crowd at the airport is the same as in August and number of daily flights is very similar.

DeleteBeyond the passenger numbers, it’s interesting to see how much Belgrade’s role as a regional connecting hub is growing. The real test now will be whether the airport can turn that momentum into more million-plus months, more year-round routes and better connections

DeleteI don't think there is any kind of a (proverbial) test. BEG just has to keep on growing.
DeleteWhen we see the likes of; Air France, British Airways, Iberia, maybe, TAP & SAS, then we will know we have made it to the next level.
We saw all of them except Iberia, but had Spanair and Volotea instead. BEG was already at that next level, now it is ahead by a couple more levels.

DeletePoint is to have those airlines serving BEG now means the airport has a wider reach, and is more international serving more destinations.
DeleteAll those destinations, and much more, are already covered from Belgrade. Passengers can also transfer via LHR or CDG, on top of many transfers already offered by the likes of LH, KL, OS, TK, LX etc. The best is left for the end: just fly nonstop from BEG to 100+ destinations!

DeleteBest is to have as many airlines as possible because like that the average fare goes down. Also when you have more airlines operating normally at an airport it shows that the market has matured. The more the merrier y'all.

DeleteIt’s defined by law. The same one which enabled hundreds of new caffes, restaurants and buildings to be finished and opened in Belgrade during all this “work in progress” at the airport.
