NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia is expected to add $1 billion to the Serbian economy in 2016 according to forecasts published by the UK-based global consultancy Oxford Economics today. Air Serbia is expected to provide 13.230 people with employment and add $210 million to the Serbian economy through its core operations including expenditures on fuel, maintenance costs and local Serbian suppliers. This includes 1.650 direct jobs at Air Serbia in Serbia, 5.450 indirect jobs supported by the airline’s procurement of goods and services and 6.130 additional jobs supported by staff spending their wages in Serbia. According to the study, Air Serbia is expected to carry almost 550.00 international visitors, predominantly from Europe and North America, to Serbia in 2016. The Oxford Economics report also noteas that Etihad Airways, which holds a 49% share in Air Serbia, will support 3.900 jobs through its operations in Serbia this year, which equates to an economic contribution of $45 million. In a statement, Air Serbia's CEO, Dane Kondić, said, "The contribution that Air Serbia makes to the national economy and the job market in Serbia cannot be overstated. As this research shows, we support thousands of jobs directly, through our airline operations, and indirectly, through the powerful domino effect that Air Serbia has on stimulating economic activity throughout the country". He added, “Our flights benefit many jobs in Serbia, such as the local suppliers we use for inflight catering, to the many industries that rely on business from air travellers, including hotels, restaurants and other tourism and hospitality-related sectors. “The Oxford Economics report clearly shows that Air Serbia’s role in improving air connectivity and growing inbound tourism creates important employment opportunities for Serbian nationals, and our aim in the years ahead is to build on this contribution”.

opa, to je oko 2,5 posto ukupnog bruto socijalnog produkta. Nije lose.

Didn't know that the visitors from the US make up 12%. Not bad, that's roughly about 66.000 people

Actually, don't forget that Americans of Serbian descent who don't have our nationality are registered as US tourists here.

Yeah that's nice and all, but won't anyone consider the burden on Serbian taxpayers?!? How are they going to make it through this?

They will all starve to death. Without Air Serbia so deep in their pockets they would be all living the Norwegian life standard. Each and every Serbian taxpayer knows that if there is no meat on his table today (only bread and potatoes) it is because the government gave all the meat to Air Serbia.

      Satisfied?

So, for the sake of discussion, let's say that the BEG discount in 2015, roughly 20 million euros, was what you would consider to be burden on taxpayers (even though the lack of these funds just delayed BEG renovation for a year, nothing else).

That's around 2.5 euro a year per capita. Guess you should feel entitled to travel JU for free for that kind of money...

Svejedno ovo su debelo naduvani podaci. Turisti u Srbiji jako malo trose osim par procenata poslovnih putnika. Par pljeskavica, karton piva i par dana u hostelu. Ako dodju kod babe i deke
trose i manje. Niti obrnu te pare stevke i piloti tri puta no jednom.

Posle mu prodajes usluge odrzavanja programa i sl.

Nisam baš shvatio poruku ovoga 20 miliona svake godine, a mali rast.

Just like the return flight which departed an hour late and arrived on time. This is because the scheduled flight time was increased by an hour which is a bit too much. 45 min would have been more appropriate.

Air Serbia platila istraživanje, Air Serbia dobila pohvale.
