Wizz Air has unveiled several new routes from both Skopje and Ohrid for the 2026 summer season. From March 30, the low cost carrier will launch flights from the Macedonian capital to Budapest and Naples, while new services from Ohrid to Milan Malpensa, Wroclaw and Katowice will follow in March and June, respectively. These additions come on top of the eight new routes the airline is set to introduce from Skopje over the next two months. All of Wizz Air’s new routes in Macedonia will be supported through state subsidies. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline's website.

Commenting on the new route additions, the CEO of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, “With our expanding route network, both Macedonian airports are strengthening their position as key gateways to Europe and beyond. These new services are the result of our close cooperation with the government and Wizz Air, aimed at improving travel and mobility opportunities for our citizens”. He added, “I am confident that destinations such as Naples from Skopje Airport, Milan and Wroclaw from Ohrid St Paul the Apostle Airport, as well as the return of Budapest from Skopje and Katowice from Ohrid, will be highly attractive to travellers and will further enhance the competitiveness of both airports in the region”.

Wizz Air previously maintained flights between Skopje and Budapest from April 2017 until March of this year. On the other hand, Naples will be served from the Macedonian capital for the first time. Wroclaw will also debut for the first time from Ohrid, while Milan was previously served between 2019 and 2021. With these latest additions, Wizz Air’s Skopje network will grow to 34 destinations next summer, while it will boast seven routes out of Ohrid.

That 3.3M is just insanity! Let's say wizzair is 60 percent of the seats of Ohrid and Skopje, that's about 5.5M across both airports. Of course actual passenger counts will be lower, but 4M pax in 2026 seems a possibility for only Skopje if things continue like this.

Just really need that middle-east connection. Everything else would just be a bonus after that.

I was in Ohrid last weekend, it has great potential but unfortunately no real tourist plan. It needs to attract some major hotel brands and there are deserted hotels from old Yugoslavia which have very central location but are not working. The potential is there, just someone needs to work on it.

21 departures with six aircrafts, thats a bit too much if they have mostly 3 rotations per aircraft.

I would assume some flights might be operated from different bases. E.g. Poland-Ohrid flights are for sure operated by PL based planes.

The low-cost carrier will add one additional weekly flight when compared to the previous winter on routes to Beauvais, Friedrichshafen, Milan Malpensa, Malta and Gothenburg, bringing each to three weekly rotations. Furthermore, an extra one to two weekly flights, depending on the month, will be introduced on services to Basel, for a total of eleven weekly, and Berlin, which will operate five times per week.

They just reduced London luton which they did to all ex yu network

Just see how many airports in germany Ryanair left, also very fresh they left some other country because of the taxes, in that case Wizz not leaving any airport for tax purposes, they could leave only without real demand or aicraft issues they currently fac with..

This is great news! I am very happy that new lines are going to be added.

Hopefully they are going to make a public transport shuttle bus from Ohrid airport to Ohrid. There is no way to reach the airport except by taxi and I've heard that taxis ask for 35€ for a 15 minute drive. Maybe even include a stop at the airport for the bus lines from other cities, like Flixbus. It should not be necessary to get family members to take you to the airport or pay expensive taxis...

Nevertheless, I'm happy that hew things are being done

Skopje passengers capacity is 4 million people. Now newest thing is they aradding some more spaces and increasing capacity by removing office spaces that were just next to passport control area for departure. With this planned remove they will increase passport control for departure, space for one restaurant as well adding more lanes to scanning machines also with a new machine for luggage scan. With this their planned increase should be on around 4.5 million passengers. Also the airport now have 32 counters for check in
Even after this very big problem is still fog from January until end of March , for now there is no info they are doing something about this issue wich causing alot of delays and cancelled flights
